Lucy feels a close affinity with the Penwith landscape, which has been a strong source of inspiration throughout her life. Her ancestry was traced to 1600’s around Perranuthnoe, and her family have been tied to Mousehole for four generations,
The quality of the Penwith land and dramatic seas, ever changing light and energy inspires an emotive and gestural response, painting directly from life en plein air.
Lucy’s sculptural work shows ability using metaphor within the truth of the materials and processes, and is now beginning to explore in paint the challenge between what is seen and what is felt.
